Getting started
What Ashee SMS is
The product in one page: the year, the people, the marks and the results, and the two things it keeps separate.
Ashee SMS holds a school's academic year: the terms it is divided into, the classes and subjects it offers, the students and teachers in it, and the marks they earn. From those it calculates results, publishes them, and keeps a record of every change.
The one idea
Most school software stores marks in a grid and lets a report interpret them later. Ashee SMS stores the year as a structure, and every mark, placement and result points at the part of that structure it belongs to. The consequence is that a question about a past term has an answer: which students were in which class, what the marks were, and what was published.
What it holds
- The year and its terms: three terms, two semesters, four quarters, or a structure the school states itself.
- The people: students with dated placements, teachers with assignments to a class and a subject.
- The marks: entered against a student, a subject, a term and an assessment, with the person who recorded them.
- The results: calculated from the marks and the school's grading configuration, then published as a snapshot.
- The corrections: a change to a mark is a record with a reason and a review, not an overwrite.
The two things it keeps separate
The school's data is the school's, and the platform that runs the product is separate from the school's own application. The people who operate the platform sign in somewhere else, and reaching a school's records is a deliberate act rather than a capability that comes with the job.
That distinction is not a detail of the interface. It is why the academic year is described as the school's record rather than as the product's data.
What it does not do yet
A timetable, parent messaging, fees, a parent portal, and integrations. None of those exist in this release, and a school that needs one before adopting should know so before it starts.
