Release notes: the first version
What this version does, what it deliberately does not, and the rules the product holds itself to.
This is the first version of Ashee SMS, and these notes describe it rather than a list of changes. A release note that opened with "we are excited" would be a marketing page with a date on it.
What it does
- The academic year: a year, its terms, the classes and subjects it offers, and dated placements for students.
- Grading as configuration: categories, weights, precision and rounding, stated per subject or inherited from the year.
- Results that are calculated: derived from the marks and the policy, ranked within a scope, and published as a snapshot.
- Corrections that leave a trail: a change is a request with a reason and, on the plans that include it, a review by someone other than the person who asked.
- A console for the platform: schools, their lifecycle state, their features and subscription, and a recorded access path.
- Registration: a school can be created, verified and set up without a conversation.
What it does not do
No timetable, no parent or student portal, no messaging to guardians, no fees, no library or transport, no importer, and no export button. Each of those is a real absence rather than a roadmap item, and what the product is lists them together.
The rules these pages hold to
- No price appears anywhere: commercial terms are quoted directly.
- No customer is named, quoted or implied.
- No percentage, uptime figure or certification is claimed.
- A feature in the future tense is not described as though it exists.
A note on versions
The product's version is in this documentation's file name, not in a badge: when the second version arrives, its notes are a new page and this one stays as it was, which is the same reasoning the product applies to a published result.
